The 6th Annual ATS Theological Forum

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Union Church of Manila, February 11 & 12, 2010

Call for Papers

Sociologists, political analysts, theologians, pastors, missionaries, educators and graduate students are invited to submit paper proposals!

Faith, Power and Politics

Another political exercise looms on the horizon and we have been hearing voices presenting various platforms and initializing new strategies to claim the approval of the citizenry. In the midst of all these we want to ask these questions – what role does our faith play in the middle of this political quagmire? How do we redefine church-state relations in a setting where such boundaries are often obscured? Where does real power lie and how do we use it for the greater good? How do I delineate my engagement in the political arenas as a Christian?

This forum will serve as a venue for public discussion, provide biblical and theological perspectives, and suggest practical measures toward better understanding of issue at hand.

Abstract proposal should be one page in length and include the following:
• Paper title
• Your full name, ministry/group you are associated with, your address, e-mail address, office and cell phone numbers
• An abstract (150 words) summarizing the main thesis/argument of the paper

Topics on: Philippine and Asian politics, Church-State Relations, Effective Governance, Countering Corruption, The Model Citizen, etc.

The total paper should be about 2500 to 3000 words and deliverable in 25 minutes (for the actual presentation)
Submission of proposal will be evaluated for its content before acceptance. Once paper is chosen, this will become part of the Forum’s official proceedings.

Deadline of Submission of Abstract proposal – December 17, 2009
Send proposals and speaker suggestions by email to theoforum@ats.ph
