Entrepreneurial & Organizational Leadership (TUL 640)

This course seeks to provide the participants with practical inputs and experiences on how to unlock their entrepreneurial competencies, interview entrepreneurs and write up an entrepreneur’s case study, generate business ideas, screen them and identify the most viable business project, conduct market research, prepare a business plan incorporating the marketing, production, organization and management of finance aspects and present their business plan to a panel of evaluators. The course will use action learning, experiential learning techniques, case studies, field visits, interviews, etc. as main methodology (3 units).

God’s View of Economic Life
13-17 April, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
This course will challenge students to look at contemporary economic life from God’s perspective. With a historical foundation about business and the Church’s relationship to the business world, students will investigate how God is at work in today’s global capitalist economic system, based on Scriptural principles for economic life and theologies applicable to business. Students will also consider how God uses the business world for His purposes, and the implications of that for their own ministry. This course intends to provide some confirmation of how God is accomplishing individual and social transformation through business. This should enable students to better integrate their own faith and work, and to be more effective in their ministries to business people or their ministries requiring the support of business people (3 units, CBS* course).

Christian Nurture and Development of Adults

The course provides an overview of the current themes on Christian nurture and the integrated perspectives on adult development and learning in adulthood. Salient examples of adult development theories and adult learning principles will be explored. The discussions will focus on learning in adulthood, with emphasis on the principles, methods and richness of experiential learning. The course will also highlight the structuring of learning experiences that both respond to and stimulate development (3 units, CE Development-based or Family-oriented course. May be taken as elective by non-CE students.)

Educational Center Development (TUL 555)

This course will address the development of an educ’l. program as integral to urban poor church planting activity. The course provides an overview of the field of early childhood education and its organization and operation. It introduces students to the historical background of early childhood educ., the phases of child development from birth to six years, as well as the philosophies, issues and types of Early Childhood Education. It also provides an overview of the various strategies, processes and guidelines in setting up, administering and stabilizing the operation of early childhood education in various urban poor communities (3 units. In between seminars or after the 2nd semester, students may opt for a fourth unit as a 40-hour internship in the preschool setting.)

Human Resource Development

This course focuses on the central role of human resource management in ensuring stability and progress of organizations, particularly non-profit organizations. It explores the principal functions performed in human resource management and their interrelationships. Missional Spirituality

This course explores biblical, theological and historical themes in understanding and living a missional spirituality. This spirituality is to animate, direct and empower the witness and service of the people of God in the world. The course also explores appropriate spiritual disciplines that sustain and make fruitful the Christian missioner as well enable one’s Christian mission (3 units, may be taken in lieu of Spiritual Formation or as an elective course).
DR. CHARLES R. RINGMA
Ph.D., M.A. Dip., University of Queensland, Australia; Founder and First Director of Teen Challenge, Australia. He developed drop-in centres, services for homeless youth, counseling programs, and therapeutic Christian communities for clients with drug dependencies. He was appointed as Professor of Missions and Evangelism to the faculty of Regent College, University of British Columbia, Canada in 1997. In August 2005 he retired as Emeritus Professor from Regent College and continues to write and teach in various parts of the world.
